We are on location at the SRRC 2026 conference and the first industry update session delivered several timely insights impacting today’s relocation and mobility environment.
A few notable trends discussed:
• The Southeast continues to lead U.S. residential development activity, with Atlanta and Miami remaining major growth markets
• Apartment vacancy rates across the Southeast are holding near 5%, while average temporary living stays have extended to approximately 83 days
• Rental costs in the Southeast continue to outpace much of the country, with annual increases averaging 5–7%
• Mortgage rates remain volatile on a daily basis, currently sitting near 6.375%, with many industry experts believing rates may not fall below the high-5% range for the foreseeable future
• Nationally, the residential real estate market is showing signs of balancing, with average home sales prices around $417K and activity remaining relatively flat year-over-year
These evolving market conditions continue to shape employee relocation decisions, temporary housing demand, home sale timelines, and overall mobility program costs — reinforcing the importance of proactive planning, supplier strategy, and strong program governance.
Scott Addaman is attending SRRC and would welcome the opportunity to connect with mobility, HR, and relocation professionals throughout the event. If you’re attending, reach out to connect.
